About

I just graduated in Fall of 2019 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Sociology and Criminal Justice and a minor in Spanish. I also studied pre-medical sciences and hope to enroll into medical school in fall of 2020 to become a forensics pathologist. I work at J.B. Hunt as an Account
Representative and try to volunteer at least twice a week on the weekends. I love to volunteer, make videos, braid hair, and explore!

This was my first orientation, by far this was the most informative and rewarding experience! I took my best friend Elly with me, we have been seeking a long term commitment humanity volunteering outreach and we have fallen in love with this organization. We respect what it stands for, and we're committed to making change each weekend/ when we have free time. I'm supporting my best friend's desire to become a veterinarian and my passion for wanting to make a change in my community and help connect humanity, and what better way to do it than to help an animal shelter! We were given a brief overview of the shelter, their rules and background knowledge on leashing dogs for walks. My best friend and I decided to stay until 3 to walk some some dogs. We spent an hour with Chablis and an hour with this German Shepard puppy. Chablis just wanted to sun bathe and roll in the grass, so we didn't walk him far and just sat with him and enjoyed his company. Later we took him back so he could eat, and we brought out the German Shepard puppy, he hadn't been walked since Thursday so we took him to the park and taught him to fetch, and retrieve a stick! Then we played chase, some tug of war and sat down with him and enjoyed his company as well. This was a humbling experience and we can't wait to return this weekend and re-visit the dogs and talk with the board members again! Also, these pictures are private, I have only shared the ones I took of my friend Elimar on this GivePulse post in respect to the Humane Society photo/video policy.

    March 8th Gregg Street Cleanup

I loved this experience! Especially around election time, our generation the "millennial" are constantly belittled in our impacts/values. We're known as the generation that re-posts, shares, and comments via the internet for wanting change, but change only going so far. We're belittled for bringing attention to global climate change, over consumption of consumer goods, and the devastating loss in species and ecosystems. Our generation is so much more, and we have so many people out here that value the Earth all that it is and that it provides for humankind. I had faith that my fellow millennial's would be out there picking up their community, and wouldn't suit the stereotypes and much to my surprise there were but there were also an abundance of younger generations 12 year olds-16 year olds! I was amazed by how passionate our youth is about making a change for the better. I was honored to volunteer alongside those younger than me! I heard their stories, their goals for making community impacts, and other outreaches that relate to environmental trash collection. We all listened to music while picking up and we split our groups up and had some people focus on recycling pick up and some people focus on trash pick up and some focus on just cigarette buds! We had one girl in our group collect half of a trash bag of cigarettes! It was insane. My best friend and I were ecstatic to have been apart of such an outreach, we were treated with coffee and breakfast delights and given the appropriate gear for trash collection! We filled up 2 trash bags and 2 recycling bags together and we were in shock how many people threw out alcohol bottles, beer bottles, 7 Brew cups, straws, cigarettes, milk jugs, McDonald's bags among other miscellaneous things. I was disgusted by the carelessness, and disregard for these items that many people pollute our Earth with. However, I was enlightened by those around me wanting to clean it up, even though they didn't litter they knew it had to be done. I was inspired by how many people honked at us and chanted alongside our sidewalk pick-ups and it made me realize that our humanity is very much alive in our little state of Arkansas. Little by little we can make a huge change it just starts with us, and I'm grateful for Pack Rat supporting this cause. I posted my entire experience on all of my social medias and I have about 10 friends lined up for the next clean up! Thank you all for making Fayetteville beautiful and letting us help out!

    Chilirhea

I was happy to volunteer in my first ever Chilirhea! I originally had signed up for the auction assistance, but was asked to help the promo table. So, I assisted the promo table at first; I advertised their logo t-shirts, raffle tickets, sold people's choice chili voting tokens, and stars for recognizing people who had alzheimers disease. There after I helped with the silent auction and awarded prizes to the winners, and helped assist in contacting the winners who had left the event to let them know that they won a prize from the silent auction. All in all this was a great experience, I tried some contestants chili, networked, and watched this event reach $120,000 to help bring more attention to alzheimers disease.

    Feeding Your Community!

I helped with gleaning, this was such an important experience for me! I felt very, welcomed and honored as soon as I stepped foot into the Feed Communities house. I see the change this organization is making in a very resourceful way. The women I met showed me how exciting it is to grow your own garden, and give your community food. I drove around with one of the organizers to the local Harps stores in Fayetteville, collected boxes of food that were about to be thrown out due to the produce being near to expiration. We collected nearly 700 pounds of fruits, vegetables, nuts, tofu, and other packaged goods. I was surprised that Harps partnered with this organization to help cater to homeless shelters, non-profit daycares, and churches. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, I got to see first hand how our community can help one another by taking simple actions like this, and not letting products go to waste. I learned that there is a little panty/fridge outside of the organization where people can collect produce if they need any. You can also borrow tools from the tool library to help keep up with the landscape of your yard, and they teach how to effectively grow your own food either on a plot in their garden or your own. I will definitely be coming back to help, this is by far my favorite program I have ever volunteered for!

    Thrifting for Good

I helped recover the store, first by straightening the clothing racks and taking out empty hangers. Then another volunteer and I cleaned off Z-bars of new merchandise. We were taught how they pick the clothing pieces that go onto the sales floor and how they sort donations in the back.
