GWupstart Information Sessions

Last date was Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm (ET)

About

GWupstart is GW's central hub for social innovation training, mentoring and funding. It builds on GW’s strength as an institution that fosters the next generation of citizen leaders. Approximately $45,000 in funding is available every year. In addition, we provide mentorship and support to students to turn their ideas into action that makes a measurable, sustained difference.

In 2020-2021 we had seven students receive funding to turn their ideas into action. Through the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) Commitment to Action, we saw students create projects to address social issues exacerbated by COVID 19. Later this year we had three additional students receive the CGI U grant to address social issues all around the world. We also had two students receive the Public Service Grant Commission, whom are working on art driven projects to address health issues and two students received the Eco-Equity Challenge Grant to address environmental issues.

Join us at one of our virtual information sessions to learn how you can also join the list of changemaking students taking an idea and creating the change that communities need.

Here you will find the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions. If you can't attend an information session feel free to schedule a one on one meeting.
