Chavez spent his life advocating for the rights of farm workers, who now today are yet again facing tremendous hardships in the midst of a global pandemic. Farm workers and domestic workers, many of whom are immigrant laborers, are living paycheck to paycheck, some anxious of deportation or becoming infected, many without sick leave or health insurance. Go to the webpage of the organization that Cesar Chavez founded United Farm Worker https://ufw.org/ and read to learn of them. Select three actions and/or campaigns to participate in by writing, signing, or social media. Take action in these three ways and document what you did. Learning to write legislators is a practical lifetime skill which helps democracy work properly. One hour of community service credit. Thanks |
