Description:

Advocacy interns work in our Advocacy Office, helping answer our 24-hour hotline, assisting with new resident intakes and exits, dispensing medication to residents, performing room checks, assisting staff with residents in crisis, scheduling appointments for residents and maintaining shelter security protocol.

Requirements:

Must be enrolled in a relevant major: Psychology, Social Work, Criminology, Human Services, etc.

Must be skilled at multi-tasking, oral and written communication, organization, and staying calm during stressful/emotional situations.

Must be able to work specific days/hours most needed by our staff, which may include evenings and weekends.

Harmony House is the largest domestic violence shelter in the state of Missouri, located here in Springfield. Our mission is to provide shelter, education and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence--including men, women and children. Harmony House has 168 beds, and offers a 90-day emergency shelter, case-management, counseling, legal services, education and support to our residents.
