Be a Friend to an Older Adult!
Would you like to visit an isolated older adult or give a caregiver a break? Check out this video describing our great volunteer program: Respite & Companion Volunteer Program.
Volunteers visit with older adults who are experiencing isolation or some form of compromised health. These adults either live alone or with a family caregiver. There is no hands-on care; the visit is entirely for companionship. Volunteers are matched with one partner and may share conversation, take a walk, go shopping, or simply enjoy the pleasure of each other's company during two-hour weekly visits. The program serves all of Boulder County, including Boulder, Lafayette, Louisville, Longmont, Niwot, and others.
Volunteers visit two hours a week, must be at least 21 years old, pass a reference and criminal background check, and are asked to make a six-month commitment. Volunteers report their hours monthly and attend a 1.5 hour annual training. Apply at bouldercountyvolunteers.org. For more information, email email@example.com or call 720-864-6526.
