Habitat Restoration in the Greater Seattle Area

Open Opportunity

About

The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust offers habitat restoration events all year round! Depending on the season, you can help us plant trees, remove invasive species, or pot trees in our native plant nursery. Volunteering with us is a great way to learn, give back, and get to know your community.

We are a local nonprofit dedicated to stewarding public lands in the greater Seattle area and beyond. You can view upcoming events and register on our website here. If you register through GivePulse, you will *not* make it into our system.

Why habitat restoration?

Habitat restoration involves the removal of invasive plants and re-introduction of native plants in their place. Long-term, comprehensive restoration involves alternating tree planting with invasive removal for multiple years in a row, which enables the young native plants to succeed when they are vulnerable. Eventually, the native plants shade out the invasive plants and grow into a mature forest, helping reestablish a more resilient native ecosystem.

Restoration has countless benefits, including improved air quality, improved water quality, erosion control, climate change mitigation, better habitat for wildlife, and human health!
